How I got into Animal Crossing: New Horizons:
During COVID-19 quarantine times, I learned about Animal Crossing: New Horizons (aka ACNH) and I had a blast making my island. At the time I played on a Nintendo Switch that was shared, and I learned about this game through my older brother. He made the island, but he eventually stopped playing which is when I swooped in a discovered it. If you don't know, if you don't buy the game again or reset your island, you cannot change the owner of the island. This means only the creator of the island can upgrade Nooks Cranny, etc. Anyway, it was a real pain in the butt especially since he didn't play. I developed my island with another sibling of mine also playing regularly, and we started to develop it and actually customize the island to our liking. After the island was fully customized, my sister decided to reset the island without my notice. Now she's the owner of the island and doesn't play anymore. :( I want to get back into ACNH now but it doesn't feel the same because I need to log into her account and do all upgrades and it's a hassle unless I restart the island again.
Things I love from the game:
- The songs and music
I adore all of the songs in ACNH, from the music that plays in the background while walking, to the tunes from K.K. Slider. All of them are all jams and I think that so much effort has went into the composition of the soundtrack. Another thing related to music is gyroids! They are so cute and I love to hang them in my house so I can have a little gyroid choir.
- The furniture and customization
One thing I love about ACNH is all the furniture and the ability to customize. I think it's so fun decorating your house and planning how your island is, honestly I'm a bit jealous of other people's islands on the internet because they look so ellaborate and in depth. This is tied to one of the reasons why I want to go back to Animal Crossing, because my island is not done at all. I feel like the game has a vast catalogue (which is why it loads forever)
- The characters
As someone who hasn't played any other Animal Crossing games, I really like the design of all the characters. (although some of them are kinda questionable) I feel like one thing they could work a bit more is the personalities of them (maybe make more personalities?) but overall I enjoy them.
- The clothes
I feel like one really underrated thing in ACNH that people don't talk enough about are the clothes. Dressing up my avatar every time I log on is one of my favorite things to do. I feel like it's really rewarding going into Able Sisters and finally find a new piece you like to add in your collection.
